What are loose eyeshadows?

Loose eyeshadows are pure pigments mixed with various base ingredients that help with adhesion, slip, texture, blendability, and opacity. The only difference between loose and pressed eyeshadow is that loose pigments aren’t mixed with liquid binders and pressed into a pan. You’re getting the pure stuff!

Are your eyeshadows vegan and cruelty free?

YES! Dora Jean Cosmetics is Leaping Bunny certified and we’re also part of PETA’s “Beauty Without Bunnies” program! All of our products are 100% vegan and cruelty free! As a vegan myself, this was a no brainer. You will never find animal-derived ingredients in our makeup, and our products have never been and never will be tested on animals. It’s way more fun and humane to test them on ourselves! We also ensure that our ingredient suppliers are cruelty free and provide 100% vegan ingredients.

Are your products gluten free?

All of our products are gluten free and free from cross contamination. As someone with Celiac Disease, this was also high on my list of importance when creating the line.

Do you use talc, parabens, or other potentially harmful ingredients?

No way! We do not use talc, parabens, bismuth oxychloride, phthalates, or sulphates in our products. We researched the ingredients we use extensively to make sure they were safe for everyone.

Is your makeup hypoallergenic and noncomedogenic?

This is somewhat of a loaded question. Yes, our makeup is considered hypoallergenic and noncomedogenic; however, as a licensed esthetician, I know that everyone’s skin reacts differently. What might be hypoallergenic and noncomedogenic for one person may not be for another. We always recommend doing a small patch test prior to introducing anything new to your skin. That said, all of the ingredients we use are considered hypoallergenic and noncomedogenic. Our line was formulated for all skin types, including sensitive skin.

Loose eyeshadow can be a little messy. Why don’t you use sifters?

While the sifters are great for cutting down on spills and messes, they’re not so great for the environment. We have yet to find recyclable sifters for our jars, so until we do, we’ve opted not to use them. There are kraft paper sifters on the market, but they lose their shape rather quickly and end up falling out, which defeats their purpose. We hope to find or develop an alternative, but in the meantime, just make sure you screw the jar lids on tightly!

Are you eco-friendly?

We strive to be as eco-friendly as a makeup company can possibly be! We are continuously looking for ways to improve and grow in this area. Our packaging and all of our ingredients are both ethically and sustainably sourced, and our mailers are compostable too! Any plastic used is made from recycled plastic and is also 100% recyclable itself! That includes our eyeshadow jars and lip gloss containers, as well as their lids.

Do you offer samples?

We do not offer or sell samples; however, we are working on finding eco-friendly sample containers so that we can start including free samples in every order!
